“No, try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.” Well, folks, according to Yoda I chose “do not”. After framing this amazing Star-Wars-as-the-Last-Supper piece even though I wanted to share it immediately I decided to wait until May the 4th to do so. And then I went and forgot! So while I may not have fulfilled the “Do.” portion of Yoda’s decree on the date I intended I hope you enjoy this piece with its lightsaber inspired frame today all the same.

Making up for my lack of posts this week (sorry, been busy!) by showing you this awesome project I recently framed for @nyctender9! Included in the piece are photos he took during the show as well as his concert pass and it’s all surrounded by the setlist from the show. The frame’s coloring is a subtle mix of blue & black which worked perfectly to tie everything together. So, was your favorite @davematthewsband song part of the setlist from the show? If not, what is it?

I can say for certain that my favorite part about this piece is that the customer who had it framed is a good friend so I will be able to see it again when I visit her. It is just so beautiful. Looking to pick up amazing artwork by a local Pittsburgh artist for yourself? Check out her Instagram account!

You know what’s great about having a young kid? They keep you humble. Months ago I was at a local park taking pictures for a family. I was crouched down near some flowers that had been planted and as I started to lose my balance I slid into the edge of the planting a tiny bit. What I didn’t realize is that a small cactus had been added to the landscaping and I brushed up against it as I slid. It wasn’t a huge problem, I finished the session and pulled the needles out of my pants when I got back to the shop. My son heard the story though and will still occasionally bring it up, sometimes even conveying the tale to strangers if he thinks it’s pertinent. So when my son saw this cross stitch when it was finished of course his first question was “Is that the type of cactus you slid into at the park?” No, it is not. I’m sure this sweet cactus cross stitch would never hurt anyone, not even their pride. 😂

I posted yesterday that we are closed today so we can spend time with family that is in town visiting. Well, here is that family! I hope my family members have not yet grown tired of receiving framed gifts from me. 😂

We will be closed for a day but this time for a good reason… we have family in town! So thankful for the time together and thankful for customers who understand when the shop needs to adjust hours a bit!

How’s this for a Throwback Thursday? My customer’s husband owned an Orange Julius franchise and this photo was taken on its opening day. Eventually they decided to close the location but while they were taking everything out his father kept some of the wood that lined the walls and created a frame out of it. This is what I mean when I say that while we offer a large selection of frames sometimes the perfect frame won’t come from our store. And that’s okay! We still love to help you make your project a reality! In this case we did a light restoration of the photo, bringing back its original coloring and removing some wear & scratches before printing a new image to fit into this wonderful frame. When’s the last time you had an Orange Julius? ♥️
